Linin Track is a traditional work song, sung by Leadbelly among others. The song is a land chantey sung by work crews, probably prisoners, laying railroad track. Typically a work boss would sing the verses allowing men time to catch their breaths, and in this case the men would lean into their pry bars on the "Ride-a, Ride-a" to inch the massive bars into alignment.
The train song is an important genre, particularly within the blues and other styles of traditional American music.
